Why Do Yoga?

There are so many ways your body will benefit from practising yoga, but you may get more than you bargained for! It has the potential to change your entire outlook on life and transform the way you live each day. Yoga is for everyone and every body. Don't let a lack of flexibility or fitness put you off. Each yoga session will be designed specifically to benefit you and your body, exactly as you are now.

In 2015, I completed my 18-month Yoga Teacher Training Diploma with Yogacampus, one of the UK's leading yoga educators. Yoga helps you to develop a calm, steady mind. You'll find you are also benefiting from reduced stress, increased focus, discipline and productivity and improved quality of sleep. It teaches you how to manage discomfort (an inevitable part of our daily lives!) and observe what's happening in your mind and body without judgement or reacting in habitual ways. Through finding a sense of ease in your body and mind, you will find that you can achieve more with less effort. All of this has the potential to have a profound impact on your daily life.

What Type of Yoga?

There are many different types and styles of yoga. Whether you want a more traditional yoga class such as Ashtanga or something a little more modern and free-flowing, you will find the type of yoga that is right for you at downdogdays. Each session will be tailored to meet your needs and current level of ability and experience. Your yoga can be an energising, strengthening flow or a gentle, relaxing and restorative practice.

I am a qualified Strala guide (one of only two in Yorkshire!). Strala yoga, as described by its founder Tara Stiles, "focuses on moving over posing, and helping people find their own way into their own bodies, with a calm ease carried through easy and challenging things alike".
